A strange fact about the New York city is that, public transit is the dominant form of travel. It is the only city in the USA where more than half of all households does not own a car, so it is implicit that New Yorkers prefer to travel using public transit. The City Subway is the largest rapid transit system on Earth when measured by the number of stations in operation.

Many tourists year by year flock to New York to watch its beauty, and to witness one of the most energy efficient cities in America. Around 40 million foreign and American tourists visit the city each year, making it one of the major tourist destinations.

Central Park is a large park in New York. The park contains several natural-looking lakes and ponds, large walking tracks,the Central Park Zoo and many more sites and locations worth visiting. That is the reason that the park attracts more than twenty million visitors annually. It is one of the best places to go in the city and a major tourist attracion.

Times Square is a major intersection in Manhattan, New York City, it was renamed after the Times Building. Tourists love to visit this place during the New Year eve. On New Year's night hundreds of thousands of people gather to watch the Waterford crystal ball being lowered on a pole atop the building, which marks the new year. A great spot for tourists, and a boon for the tourism industry.

The Bronx Zoo is the largest metropolitan zoo in the United States, the Bronx River flows through the zoo. The zoo is a great spot for visitors and tourists to spend their time viewing one of the greatest collection of animals and birds.

Statue of Liberty was presented to the United States by the people of France in 1886. The statue is of a robed woman holding a torch, and the statue is made of a sheeting of pure copper, which is hung on a framework of steel. The flame of the torch is coated in gold leaf. It stands upon a rectangular stonework pedestal with a foundation in the shape of an irregular star which is eleven-pointed . The statue which is 151 ft (46 m) tall, with the pedestal and foundation it is 305 ft (93 m) tall. The site of the Lady with the tourch attracts many tourists worldwide. Many tourists flock to New York each year to witness the magnificient view of the statue.

Some other locations include the Rockefeller Center, the Ellis Island and the famous Botanical gardens of New York.

Paris

The capital of France and the largest city in that country is Paris. Situated in northern France on the river Seine. It is one of the most popular tourist destination in the world, with over 30 million foreign visitors coming each year.

Paris is a beautiful city with very jolly and refreshing things to see and do. There are many interesting locations. There are wonderful restaurants and food. Elegant restaurants and casual sidewalk cafes lie throughout the city.

Charles de Gaulle International Airport:-The main airport in Paris is called Charles de Gaulle International Airport. It is situated in the north east part of the city.It is one of the major airports of Europe.

TGV:- These are the world famous high speed trains. These are a registered trademarrk of SNCF. The record for the fastest wheeled trains is held by these only.They have reached 574.8 km/h on 3rd April 2007. The record for world's highest average speed for regular passenger service is also held by TGV.

Eiffel Tower:- The Eiffel Tower in Paris, France was built in January 26, 1882 by Gustave Eiffel. Out of the 700 proposals submitted in a design competition, Gustave Eiffel’s was chosen. He was assisted in the design by engineers Maurice Koechlin, Emile Nouguier, and architect Stephen Sauvestre. With the help of 300 steel workers, it took two years to construct it. It took 18,038 parts, 3.000 workshop drawings, 7000 engineering plans and 2,500,000 rivets to raise the structure of the Eiffel tower which weighs 7,300 tons and measures 1,050 feet high. The total cost of building and construction was estimated as $1.5 million.

Champs-Élysées:- It is a seventeenth century garden, which is turned into an avenue. It connects the Concorde and Arc de Triomphe.It is one of the many tourist attractions and a major shopping street of Paris. It is also called as "the most beautiful avenue in the world".
Arc de Triomphe:-The Arc de Triomphe is a famous monument in Paris and a major tourist spot. The triumphal arch honors those who fought for France, particularly during the Napoleonic Wars. On the inside and the top of the arc there are all of the names of generals and wars fought. Underneath is the tomb of the unknown soldier from World War I.

The Louvre:-The Louvre is one of the finest museums in the world of art, art-history, and culture. It is a real big place to roam around. One of the major tourist spots in Paris. The list of tourist attractions in Paris would be incomplete without this location.

Notre Dame Cathedral:-Notre Dame Cathedral, is a must see Cathedral in Paris for tourists.

Sainte Chapelle:-Sainte Chapelle is more beautiful as compared to the famous, Notre Dame. It is a small chapel, but attracts much more visitors. It is said that sunlight plays a vital role in enhancing its beauty.
